At this year’s Isle of Man TT, one of the world’s most iconic motorsport events, Merseyside Police reported a marked reduction in thefts and anti-social behaviour, attributing part of the success to enhanced on-site security measures.
Operation Needle was led by a coordinated effort with police, Liverpool City Council, BID, hotel and port operators, Isle of Man and Lancashire forces all coming together to protect the event.
The Isle of Man TT, held from May 26th to June 7th, attracted more than 6,000 motorcyclists passing through Liverpool.
Five thefts were reported within Liverpool city centre during the 2024 TT. This year, with additional security including the deployment of our Safer POD® S1 intruder detection units, no thefts took place within the city centre.
The trial was expanded to include Anfield and Kirkdale, where two motorbike thefts were reported.
This represents a sixty-six percent decrease compared to the 2024 TT period, during which six motorcycles were stolen in the Anfield and Kirkdale areas over the same two-week timeframe.
