Operation needle

At this year’s Isle of Man TT, one of the world’s most iconic motorsport events, Merseyside Police reported a marked reduction in thefts and anti-social behaviour, attributing part of the success to enhanced on-site security measures.

Operation Needle was led by a coordinated effort with police, Liverpool City Council, BID, hotel and port operators, Isle of Man and Lancashire forces all coming together to protect the event.

The Isle of Man TT, held from May 26th to June 7th, attracted more than 6,000 motorcyclists passing through Liverpool.

Five thefts were reported within Liverpool city centre during the 2024 TT. This year, with additional security including the deployment of our Safer POD® S1 intruder detection units, no thefts took place within the city centre.

The trial was expanded to include Anfield and Kirkdale, where two motorbike thefts were reported.

This represents a sixty-six percent decrease compared to the 2024 TT period, during which six motorcycles were stolen in the Anfield and Kirkdale areas over the same two-week timeframe.

“The deployment of targeted crime prevention measures has proven to be an effective deterrent, with no reported motorcycle thefts in areas where the security provisions were in place."

Our solution

Our Safer POD® S1 devices provide 24/7/365 real-time surveillance across key city centre hotel sites.

Our technology supported officers by delivering proactive alerts, ensuring a rapid response to emerging incidents while also acting as a powerful visual deterrent to combat crime before it strikes.

Financial support from the National Vehicle Crime Reduction Partnership (NVCRP), Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) Foundation and British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) played a key role in bringing enhanced security measures to the event.
